Keeper signs after passing medical and agreeing terms
Colchester United have finally completed the signing of Carlisle United goalkeeper Ben Williams for an undisclosed fee.
Us boss Paul Lambert has spent the past fortnight trying to arrange a deal for Williams, which appeared set to collapse after Scott Vernon rejected a move in the opposite direction.
However, Lambert pressed on with his interest in the former Manchester United keeper and agreed a fee earlier this week.
Williams has now passed a medical and settled on personal terms to become the fifth new arrival at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Lambert has also added Lee Beevers, David Fox, Magnus Okuonghae and Ashley Vincent to his squad as he looks to mount a push for promotion from League One.
Carlisle have already brought in a replacement for Williams after signing former Chelsea and Millwall keeper Lenny Pidgeley earlier this week.
