Veteran defender has high hopes for Rossoneri this term

Veteran AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta believes the Rossoneri can prove a 'big surprise' this term if they get their injured players back. The 33-year-old himself missed almost all of last season with a back injury, making his first competitive appearance in Milan's final away game to Fiorentina on 31st May. But he believes the side can do well this term under new boss Leonardo, while he hopes midfielder Andrea Pirlo will stay at the San Siro. He told Football Italia: "Milan is a bit of a mystery. If all the players who were out last season return then we can be a big surprise "Leonardo has great enthusiasm and will do well. But Pirlo is a player who is irreplaceable for us, I hope he will stay. "Inter have still got something more than us though and so do Juventus."
