Black Cats stiker welcomes new additions
Kenwyne Jones insists the imminent arrival of Darren Bent at Sunderland will have no impact on his own future.
Tottenham striker Bent is expected to complete a big-money move to the Black Cats this week, with negotiations regarding a switch already well underway.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has been looking to bolster his attack for some time, and has already landed Fraizer Campbell from Manchester United, but he recently missed out on taking England international Peter Crouch to the North East.
Reports have suggested that Bruce's emphasis on adding firepower to his squad this summer is due to fears regarding the future of talismanic frontman Jones.
However, the Trinidad & Tobago international, who is currently tied down on a four-year contract, insists he has no plans to be heading for the Stadium of Light exits.
"Whoever is coming in will come in but I am not going anywhere. The more talent we have is good news for the team," he said in
The Sun.
"I'll have a new strike partner but it isn't up to me who that person is. I signed a four-year deal in January and I'm committed to staying for that length of time, maybe more."
Bruce has also sought to bring an end to the disruptive speculation by insisting that his pursuit of forwards is merely down to his desire to give the club the best possible opportunity to be competitive in the 2009/10 campaign.
"I have said to the board that if we're as ambitious as we say we are, we need four forwards," he said.
