Pair arrive on Bosman deals

Norwich City have confirmed the double signing of defender Jens Berthel Askou and striker Goran Maric. Both players arrive on a Bosman deal having trialled with the Canaries during pre-season. Askou, a Danish defender, has penned a two-year deal having impressed during his goalscoring performance against Airdrie United in a club friendly. Maric joins on a one-year contract following an equally impressive trial stint in which he scored two goals in three games whilst on the club's pre-season tour of Scotland. The duo are Norwich's 11th and 12th signings heading into their League One campaign, with boss Bryan Gunn continuing to strengthen his squad in a bid to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Boost

Delighted with his recent signings, he told the club's official website: "Both lads were with us up in Scotland and we felt they were at the right level to offer both of them contracts. "Both adapted well to our style of play and the physical elements, which will be needed in League One this season." He added: "I'm obviously delighted they have signed - both had offers from other clubs, but the attractiveness of Norwich City Football Club - the facilities and supporters have all played their part again. "They have boosted numbers in the squad and bring healthy competition in the much needed areas of striker and defence and we look forward to working with them." Askou admitted that the lure of first-team football was enough for him to agree a deal. "I got a good impression of the club when I was there on try out and the club are facing an interesting season," he told TV2.dk. "There are no gaurantees I will get straight into the starting 11 but that's the impression I got from the manager and the other players. "If I thought I wouldn't get a starting place I wouldn't have chosen this club."
