Defender seals switch from Real Madrid

Marseille have completed the signing of Gabriel Heinze from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee. Marseille announced on Thursday that a deal had been agreed between the two clubs, with the Argentine set to arrive on a three-year deal. The transfer has now been finalised and the former Manchester United full-back is looking forward to a new challenge. "I experienced some fantastic years of football at Real," said Heinze, who spent two seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu. "But a player's life is made up of changes of club and I'm happy to be here and will give my best." Marseille boss Didier Deschamps also expressed his delight after securing the 31-year-old's services. "He's a typical Argentinian defender," praised Deschamps. "He likes tough encounters and has plenty of technical quality. He has experience and no fear."
