Experienced full-back expected to depart Santiago Bernabeu

Veteran full-back Michel Salgado is reported to have negotiated his release from Real Madrid. The former Spain international has spent the last 10 years at Santiago Bernabeu, but accepts the time has come to move on. Real's recent acquisition of Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa has persuaded him that his future lies away from the Spanish capital. He was contracted to the club until the summer of 2010 but both sides have agreed to end that agreement prematurely. Salgado must now decide whether he would prefer to have the final year of that deal paid off or accept the offer of a testimonial. His agent, Gines Carvajal, is said to have already been approached with a number of interesting proposals. One such offer is reported to have come from Arab outfit Al Rayyan of Qatar. Real Zaragoza are also said to have expressed an interest, and a move to La Romareda would allow Salgado to remain in the Primera Liga.
