Midfielder joins Coventry from Bristol City

Coventry City have completed the signing of Bristol City midfielder Michael McIndoe. The Sky Blues have paid an undisclosed fee for McIndoe, who has penned a two-year deal at the Ricoh Arena. McIndoe has been a key player for Bristol City over the past two seasons after he moved to Ashton Gate from Wolves in 2007. Coventry boss Chris Coleman was delighted to secure his signature. "This is a very good signing for us. Michael has proved himself right at the top of the Championship and is just the type of player we have been looking for," said Coleman.

Next level

"He will give us natural width down the left side - something we have needed for some time - is very good at running at defences and is also excellent in front of goal, as we know from last season when he scored against us at the Ricoh! "I have said all along that we want players who we know can take us to the next level, and Michael fits firmly into that bracket. He was recently on the verge of moving to Sheffield United, but are delighted he has opted to join us. "There is no way we were going to rush into signings just for the sake of bringing people into the club. I know that has been frustrating but Michael is someone we have targeted and while we have had to be patient to bring him in, I am certain he will be a key player for us. "He is a fierce competitor and both he and Sammy Clingan bring the sort of quality and experience we have been looking to add to the squad. They have both been mainstays of their previous clubs and that is just what we want them to be for us. "I am still looking to strengthen because we have been very unlucky with the injury to James McPake, and the chairman and board have been working hard to make that happen."
