You have voted in your hundreds for the best player to wear a Macclesfield Town shirt and the winner is ....John Askey.
We asked fans of each of the 92 English League teams and Scottish Premier League sides to nominate their all-time favourite footballers and the well loved John Askey has topped the poll.
Combative midfielder Steve Woods came in second while goalscoring hero Steve Burr finished joint third in the voting alongside Brian Fidler.
John Askey
Sir John Askey, as he is affectionately known to Macclesfield fans, holds the club's overall appearance record with 672 between 1984-2003.
At home on the wing or playing through the middle Askey also managed to score 155 goals during his time with the Silkmen.
Askey led the club to their highest ever position in the Football League when he helped the club gain promotion to League One in 1998.
Fittingly Askey scored a late equaliser against local rivals Rochdale and played a part in the winner two minutes later in his final game for the club.
Steve Woods
Woods was a member of the Conference side of the 90s which gained promotion to the Football League under Sammy McIlroy.
Known as 'Woody' the midfielder would put his body on the line for the Silkmen cause while also chipping in with a number of important and classy goals.
Steve Burr
The striker was prolific in his five years at the club in the early 1990s but he will perhaps be forever remembered for his hat-trick against then Third Division Rotherham in the second round of the FA Cup.
A crowd of 4,500 turned up to witness the Silkmen, then of the Conference, run out comprehensive 4-0 winners in a match that is still spoken about today.
Brian Fidler
The striker was certainly a crowd pleaser during his time with the Silkmen. The frontman played for Macclesfield during their Cheshire League days in the 1960s and once scored in the FA Cup against Fulham at Craven Cottage in 1968.
Macclesfield took over 10,000 fans down to London and were even leading 2-1 at the break but Fulham got back into the game thanks to a dubious penalty and ended up running out 4-2 winners.
