Former Norwich forward set to retire
Former Norwich forward Darren Huckerby has announced he is '99 per cent' certain his playing career is over after suffering a hip injury.
The 33-year-old currently plies his trade with the San Jose Earthquakes in America but his contract runs out at the end of the season.
And Huckerby's latest injury setback has convinced him to retire from the game after undergoing surgery.
"I've got to give it a chance to see how it is but I'm 99% sure that I am done," he told the
Eastern Daily Press.
"I look at where I started at the bottom of the third division and I have done everything that I have wanted to do in the game."
Huckerby started out as a youngster with Lincoln before joining Newcastle and then Coventry in 1996.
He spent three successful years with the Sky Blues and also had stints with Leeds and Manchester City.
He then moved to Norwich in 2003 and became a fans' favourite before eventually leaving for San Jose.
