Ex-Saints defender takes caretaker charge of League Two club
Aldershot have confirmed former Southampton defender Jason Dodd has been named caretaker manager following the departure of Gary Waddock.
Skysports.com revealed on Wednesday that Dodd had been lined up to take over the reins at the Recreation Ground on a temporary basis after Waddock left for Wycombe Wanderers earlier this week.
Dodd has now been installed in the position ahead of Saturday's game against Bury and will be assisted by his ex-Southampton team-mate Paul Williams.
The League Two club are happy to have brought in someone of Dodd's pedigree as the search to find Waddock's permanent successor begins in earnest.
A club statement read: "The club are delighted that Jason and Paul have been able to make themselves available at such short notice and look forward to working with them during the period of time they are with the club whilst the process of short-listing candidates and interviewing for the permanent positions takes place.
"To have such quality caretaker management available to us at this time is fantastic news and ensures that the club's progress towards promotion to League One can continue."
Dodd has previously had a stint as caretaker manager at his old club Southampton in addition to a spell in charge of non-league side Eastleigh.
