Rosenborg boss keen on return to his roots
Erik Hamren has revealed that he is in talks to become the new coach of the Sweden national side.
The experienced Swede is currently in charge of Norwegian outfit Rosenborg, who he led to title glory last season.
He is, however, keen on becoming Lars Lagerback's successor as manager of his homeland.
"I was asked if I was interested (in the position) now and in the long term and I answered yes to both questions," said the 52-year-old, who is under contract with Rosenborg until 2010.
"I haven't had an offer and I haven't accepted an offer," he added.
The main sticking point in any potential agreement would concern the Swedish Football Federation's ability to strike a compensation deal with Rosenborg.
Initial indications have not been promising, with the Norwegians reluctant to part with a coach who helped the club to land their first national title in three years.
Hamren joined Rosenborg from Danish side Aalborg in June 2008 and suffered only one defeat as he led the Trondheim-based club to the Tippeligaen crown.
