Gennaro Gattuso has signed a contract entension with AC Milan, ending speculation of a possible January transfer move to Man City.
Midfielder extends Milan stay
AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has signed a contract extension with the club to keep him at the San Siro for the next three years.
The news comes as speculation began to mount linking the Italian with a switch to big-spending Premier League side Manchester City.
Gattuso has been linked with a move away as he was said to be unhappy with his first-team opportunities after battling injury.
But the 31-year-old, who has spent the last decade with Milan, has now signed a contract extension to end speculation.
Renewed contract
A statement on the club's
official website read: "AC Milan announce the player Rino Gattuso has renewed his contract with the Rossoneri club until 30th June 2012."
The new deal comes at an unexpected time as it was anticipated the former Rangers man would not meet with chief executive Adriano Galliani until Christmas for contract talks.
