Free agent defender open to Grecians return
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender George Friend has refused to rule out making a permanent return to Exeter City this summer.
The 22-year-old came through the ranks of the League One outfit before making the switch to Molineux in 2008, but struggled to establish himself at the Black Country club.
He made just eight appearances for Wolves, spending most of his time out on loan, with successful spells at Millwall, Southend and Scunthorpe before returning to Exeter on loan in March and helping them avoid relegation.
Friend has now been released by Wolves and he is anxious to resolve his future as soon as possible. While he is keen to play at the highest level possible, he is not ruling out returning to St James Park.
Highest level
"Obviously, I want to play at the highest level that I can, but I would never rule out going back to Exeter because I love playing for them and that was the main reason why I returned there on loan last season," he told

"I'd never write that off, but it is pretty undecided where my future lies at the moment.
"There are a few things going on, but nothing concrete has come my way yet.
"It is relatively early in the summer though, so I am aiming to get a new club sorted out before pre-season begins.
"I want to get something sorted before then because I'd like to be able to prepare for it early, so that I can settle as quickly as possible."
