Ajax striker to serve seven-game suspension

Ajax striker Luis Suarez has been banned for seven matches for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal. The Uruguayan was seen biting his rival on the shoulder during an Eredivisie encounter on Saturday. His employers took immediate action against him, handing him a fine and a two-match suspension. However, the Dutch football federation (KNVB) has become involved since then and warned Suarez that he faced an extension to that ban. It reached a decision on Wednesday, after reviewing the incident, and has decreed that Suarez must sit out the next seven games. Ajax have confirmed that they are aware of the ruling and have no intention of appealing it. They also revealed that club captain Suarez is prepared to bow to the wishes of the KNVB disciplinary board.
