Coach poised to take charge of Getafe after stepping down
Luis Garcia looks set to take over Getafe after resigning as Levante coach.
Levante confirmed on Tuesday that Garcia, who led the Valencia-based club to La Liga survival last season, has stepped down with immediate effect.
"Luis Garcia, coach of Levante the past three seasons, has today cut his ties with our club," read a statement on their official website.
The 38-year-old boss is set to step straight into the Getafe hotseat.
The Madrid-based outfit chose not to renew Michel's contract after they narrowly avoided relegation, finishing a point behind Levante.
And Getafe's club president Angel Torres confirmed they want Garcia as Michel's successor.
"We are going to offer him a three-year project," he told local press.
"He is a young coach with character and he has done things very well at Levante."
Local media have reported that Garcia has agreed to pay Levante €1million (£900,000) to end his contract.
