Addicks eye move for Spanish midfielder
Skysports.com understands Charlton are lining up a move for former Bolton midfielder Mikel Alonso.
Alonso is believed to be ready to leave Tenerife following their relegation to the third tier of Spanish football.
The 31-year-old, who is the brother of former Liverpool star Xabi, has played in England before after an ill-fated loan spell at Bolton during the 2007/08 season.
Alonso made only seven appearances during his time at Bolton with the player falling out of favour under Gary Megson after initially being brought in by Sammy Lee.
Charlton are now ready to offer Alonso a route back to England and have opened talks with the player about a move to The Valley.
Addicks boss Chris Powell sees Alonso's experience as a key addition to his squad as he looks to build a side capable of winning promotion from League One next term.
