Redknapp likes the striker but cannot meet his wage demands

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has reiterated that he is willing to sign Carlos Tevez but admits that the club cannot afford to meet Manchester City's asking price or pay the striker's wages. Tevez is currently locked in a bitter row with City after he was charged with refusing to warm-up against Bayern Munich in their 2-0 Champions League defeat at the Allianz Arena last month. The Argentina international has been fined two weeks' wages for the incident and is expected to be sold, at the right price, by the Premier League leaders in January. Redknapp has already revealed himself to be an admirer of Tevez and has admitted that he would be interested to have the 27-year-old in his team, but now concedes that financially the move is not feasible. "Would I like him? Yes," he explained. "Anyone would like him. He is a fantastic player. "He is an amazing player. When he plays no one gives more than he does. He works his socks off, he runs, he chases, he plays, he tackles and he scores goals. "He is the full package when he plays so I don't think there are too many teams who wouldn't like him. "Affording him is a different matter. That's the problem. We couldn't afford him really."
