Wigan goalkeeper is determined to overturn their recent run

Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has called on his team-mates to pull together and climb off the foot of the Premier League table. The Latics have lost their last seven league games, including defeats against potential relegation rivals Bolton and Fulham. They have arguably their biggest match of the season so far this Sunday as they go to fellow-strugglers Wolves. Mick McCarthy's side have almost as bad a recent record as Wigan, but their draw against Swansea means they have lost six of their last seven games. Al Habsi believes his team-mates have what it takes to avoid relegation but admits they need to show a united front to get out of their current predicament.

Stand together

He told the Wigan Evening Post: "We know we're in a really, really bad position, but now is the time for us to stand together as a team and show what we're made of. "What can I say? We played another decent game on Saturday but, in the end, we didn't get the rewards that our play deserved. "Again we created some good chances, but we just need to find that finishing touch to turn the chances into goals. "But that's football, and we go again next weekend determined to get that all-important win. "The Wolves game is massive but they're all massive games when you're bottom of the league like we are." Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has this week defended manager Roberto Martinez and insisted that his job is safe despite the recent run. Al Habsi claims that there are no bad feelings within the camp and that the players are getting along with each other.
United
He added: "The dressing room is united, and we will carry on fighting. "It's hard to know how to get out of this situation, because we're already working extremely hard on the training ground. "Hopefully the gaffer will be able to get us out of it, and I'm sure he can."
