Gunners defender brushes off defensive concerns
Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has defended the club's recent form, stating the Gunners are a club on the up.
Club legend David Seaman was critical of Arsenal's backline in midweek against Marseille despite the home side keeping a clean sheet.
Arsenal have now won eight of their last 10 games with Arsene Wenger's troops losing just once, a 2-1 reverse to Tottenham.
Vermaelen accepts there will always be criticism, however, the Belgium international insists it is water off a duck's back.
The 25-year-old knows the most important thing for Arsenal is to be winning games and maintaining their good form.
Confident
"There is always criticism and complaining about Arsenal's defence," said Vermaelen. "It does not hurt me at all.
"I am on the pitch to do my best. I am confident and don't care what people say.
"The most important thing is that we win games. And we have won eight from 10 and drawn one.
"It is not only about defence but the shape of the team, the organisation. That is really important in the game, something we can improve on."
