Celtic boss challenges players to rise to atmosphere at Fir Park
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has challenged his players to show consistency ahead of their clash with Motherwell on Sunday.
The Hoops travel to Fir Park sitting third in the SPL, three points behind their hosts and a massive 15 adrift of arch rivals Rangers, although they have played two games less than Ally McCoist's side.
Lennon's side pulled off an impressive midweek win over Rennes in the Europa League and Lennon has challenged his side to show consistency at Motherwell.
He told the
Sunday Mail: "It's frustrating that you go into games thinking 'What will I get today?' I'm hoping it's the team who played so well second half against Hibs and who competed ferociously against Rennes.
"But a lack of consistency has been our problem - not a lack of commitment. We have to find the nub of that."
Must win
He added: "You have to take every game, particularly the league ones, as 'must win' if we're to make any inroads on the leaders.
"You get inconsistency with younger players but they've been to cup finals and lost the league by a point so they know what's expected.
"I look at some of the players who did really well last season but they've been stop-start this term.
"And it's a mentality thing. You can't wait 20 minutes for a game to start, thinking you're going to find your rhythm - it doesn't happen that way. There are 11 players in the opposition busting a gut to curtail you.
"You can't just think you've found the holy grail after beating Hibs 4-1 - you have to go and do it again.
"But if you keep ranting and raving, eventually you lose the impact. We had a great response on Thursday and I hope the players rise to the atmosphere at Fir Park."
