Tottenham boss could be in the dugout for Villa clash

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is optimistic of returning to the dugout for his side's clash with Aston Villa on Monday. The Spurs boss has missed the last two matches after undergoing minor heart surgery last month. Assistant manager Joe Jordan has revealed Redknapp is close to completing his recovery from the heart procedure that has kept him away from White Hart Lane. "There's a possibility Harry will be back for the Villa game. He's very keen and optimistic of that happening," said Jordan. "Hopefully he'll be back soon. It will depend on his conversation with the medical people who are giving him advice.

Torture

"If he comes to the game he'll be on the bench. If he's at the stadium why wouldn't he be on the bench making decisions and being involved? "Against Fulham it would have been torture watching the game and not making substitutions or decisions. He will have suffered a lot more." Redknapp's procedure, know as coronary angioplasty, was routine and he had expected to make a return for Tottenham's victory at Fulham. Speaking after the procedure, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: "We are delighted the operation went so smoothly and successfully. Knowing Harry he will want to rush back but it is important that he only does so when he has recovered properly." Redknapp is not the only Premier League manager to have undergone similar treatment. Sir Alex Ferguson, Sam Allardyce, Gerard Houllier and Joe Kinnear have all had heart surgery down the years.
