Rovers tackle newly-promoted Swans at Ewood

Blackburn Rovers go in search of only their second Premier League win of the campaign against Swansea City at Ewood Park on Saturday. And Steve Kean's Rovers need to recover from their Carling Cup exit following their 2-0 quarter-final defeat to Cardiff City on Tuesday. An eight-game winless run in England's top flight has seen Blackburn slump to the foot of the table, while Brendan Rodgers' Swans are in 13th. The Welsh side have only lost once in their last five league games and claimed a goalless draw last Sunday against Aston Villa in an emotionally-charged outing in the wake of Gary Speed's death. Blackburn, who have suffered their worst-ever start to a Premier League season, have not played Swansea on home soil since 1984, a game the Lancashire side won 4-1. But the omens are not looking good for Rovers as no side in the last 10 years has managed to avoid relegation after garnering seven points or fewer after 13 games.

Rovers news

Kean expects to bolster his backline against Swansea with Christopher Samba, Martin Olsson and Michel Salgado all set to return for Rovers. The trio have been suffering from hamstring problems, hindering their chances of climbing the table, however they could feature against Rodgers' side after resuming training. Key man Junior Hoilett is doubtful due to the virus which ruled him out of Tuesday's Carling Cup defeat, while Steven Nzonzi serves the second game of his three-match suspension. Paul Robinson is expected to return in goal ahead of Mark Bunn while Yakubu Aiyegbeni should also start after coming off the bench against the Bluebirds. New Zealand defender Ryan Nelsen is also training again for Rovers, but Saturday's game against Swansea comes too soon as Kean is eager for him to feature in one or two reserve games.
Swans news
Swansea's Danny Graham is a major doubt as the ex-Watford striker is struggling with the Achilles injury he suffered against Villa. Former Middlesbrough, Reading and Bristol City man Leroy Lita is likely to lead the line if Graham misses out. Ex-West Brom and Aston Villa striker Luke Moore is also hoping to fill in for Graham, however, the 25-year-old is likely to start the game on the substitutes' bench. Spanish right-back Angel Rangel is facing a month out after picking up an ankle problem in the same game so Wales Under-21 captain Jazz Richards is set for a first Premier League start.
