Maritimo ready to agree deal to sell Senegal striker in January

Maritimo president Carlos Pereira has confirmed the club are prepared to agree a deal with Celtic regarding striker Baba Diawara. Parkhead boss Neil Lennon watched Diawara in action before the close of the last transfer window, but the proposed move fell through due to work permit issues. But the £3million-rated Senegalese ace remains on the Bhoys' radar, and Pereira is ready to hold further talks regarding a January deal. "I have spoken again with the Scots recently and we are ready to resume talks," said Pereira. "We failed to reach an agreement before, but anything is possible now. "It's a matter of sitting down and talking through our requirements. This weekend, there were a lot of clubs - including Celtic - watching, not only Baba, but also other players from our team. "We cannot rule out selling our best assets. If we did, we could run the risk of upsetting the players because of the huge leap in salary they could make by moving."
