Wolves boss believes Woodgate should have been sent off
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was angry with a couple of decisions after watching his side slip to a 2-1 home defeat to Stoke.
The hosts flew out of the blocks and deservedly took the lead on 17 minutes when Stoke defender Jonathan Woodgate, who had earlier been booked for a challenge on Matthew Jarvis, brought the winger down in the box and Stephen Hunt converted the spot kick.
But Stoke equalised when Robert Huth's effort from a short free-kick - awarded after Roger Johnson had been adjudged to have fouled Jon Walters - took a huge deflection off Kevin Doyle.
Peter Crouch then sealed the win for Stoke with 20 minutes to play to leave Wolves just above the drop zone.
Angry
McCarthy told
Sky Sports: "I'm angry about a couple of things. I'm not angry at my team because I thought we played really well today, certainly in the first half.
"And the game has turned on its head with a deflected shot which I don't think was a free-kick, I thought Roger's won the ball."
The Wolves boss believed Woodgate should have received his marching orders when conceding the penalty.
He added: "I think he should (have been sent off). Anywhere else on the field he gets booked for it - I think if he hasn't already been booked for the assault he'd had on him earlier, I think he gets booked for it.
"I've spoken to the ref - I'm not going to tell you what he said about it because I'm not into that - I've had a conversation with him but quite clearly he didn't think it warranted it.
"But anywhere else on the pitch it's a booking and they're down to 10 men and then we really do have the advantage."
