Fir Park suffers structural damage so Pars game called off

Motherwell have confirmed the SPL game at home to Dunfermline Athletic on Wednesday evening has been called off due to high winds. The gusty conditions have caused structural damage to Fir Park and have prompted Well to postpone the fixture on safety grounds. A rearranged date has already been agreed, with the match now scheduled to take place on Tuesday 24th January, with a 7.45pm kick-off. Well chief executive Leeann Dempster told the club's official website: "We were obviously desperate to get the game on but there has been significant structural damage to the ground. "That could have posed a risk to supporters so with that in mind, we have agreed with Dunfermline to postpone the fixture and replay it at the earliest opportunity." Stuart McCall's Motherwell had been hoping to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat at Hearts on Christmas Eve when facing Dunfermline, who have lost three successive SPL matches this month.
