Wolves boss sickened to see Blues snatch late winner at Molineux

Mick McCarthy was left 'livid' and 'disgusted' after seeing Wolves let a point slip through their grasp late on in a home date with Chelsea. It appeared as though Stephen Ward had snatched a share of the spoils when he swept home six minutes from time. That effort cancelled out Ramires' opener, but the Blues had one final push left in them and Frank Lampard stole a dramatic winner in the closing stages. McCarthy was understandably disappointed at the final whistle, with every point vital to Wolves as they continue with their efforts to pull away from the Premier League drop zone. He told Sky Sports: "I am livid. I am disgusted that we've conceded the goal that we've conceded. "I should be stood here talking about a well-earned draw instead of accepting some back-handed praise for getting back into the game. I'm not interested in that, I'm interested in points. "That today was rubbish, the fact that we conceded that goal."

Sick

Asked what went wrong for Lampard's winner, he added: "That's for me and my players to analyse. I know what went wrong and I'm livid, really livid that we've conceded a goal. "We got back into the game and we shouldn't have given that goal away." McCarthy, who confirmed that he is looking to bring further fresh faces to Molineux during the January transfer window, says he can take no comfort from the fact that Wolves came agonisingly close to holding a side that is pushing hard for a top-four finish. He said: "Back-handed praise. We worked hard, yeah, all my teams do. "When we need to get a point, we should have been talking about three points from the Emirates, from Bolton and a real tough one from a home game against a good Chelsea side. Instead, I am stood here sick that we've lost it."
