Striker feels January could be definitive to Tottenham's season
Jermain Defoe believes January will be a 'massive month' for Tottenham as they look to underline their Premier League title credentials.
Spurs are set for a busy start to the year, with Tuesday night's visit of West Brom the first of five Premier League games they will play this month.
Harry Redknapp's men are only away from White Hart Lane for one of those encounters, against leaders Manchester City on January 22nd.
The North Londoners currently sit six points behind table-toppers City and Manchester United with a game in hand after the local rivals both slipped up with defeats at the weekend.
England striker Defoe has urged his team-mates to make the most of the run of home fixtures as they bid to keep themselves in the title race.
Massive
He said: "This is a massive month for us and it can make a big difference to where we can go.
"January will give a big indication of how far Tottenham have come. Especially with some of the other teams at the top slipping up over the weekend.
"It is looking good for us, all the lads are grafting for each other and everyone believes we can win every game we play."
Victory against the Baggies on Tuesday would see Spurs close the gap on the top two and striker Emmanuel Adebayor insists picking up points from their upcoming games is crucial.
He said: "We have four games at home out of the next five and we have to make sure we get maximum points from them.
"We have a big chance to finish in the top four, or maybe get second or third."
