Frontman eager to remain with Dundee Utd despite speculation

Dundee United striker Johnny Russell insists that he is happy at Tannadice and has a lot to learn before he could move to another club. The 21-year-old scored United's second goal as they produced the shock of the fifth round in the Scottish Cup by dumping out 33-time winners Rangers. The Scotland U21 frontman eventually fired home in the 35th minute after having a goal disallowed earlier in the game due to a foul on Gers keeper Allan McGregor. Russell was linked with a move to Celtic during the January transfer window but, despite netting against Rangers, admits he has a lot of work to do before he reaches his peak.

Learning

"Rangers are always going to be difficult and they worked hard but it just didn't come off for them and we took our chances and came away with the win," he said. "It's good to hear that clubs are interested in you, especially massive clubs like Celtic. "But I think the best place for me just now is Dundee United. I've still got a lot to learn and hopefully I can do it here." United will learn their Scottish Cup quarter-final fate on Monday when the draw is made following their 2-0 win at Ibrox on Sunday.
