Defender says he wants to help turn Aston Villa's results round
Carlos Cuellar says he wants to repay the faith shown in him by Alex McLeish by helping the Aston Villa boss improve the team's fortunes.
Having played sporadically this season, the defender got his chance deputising for the injured James Collins and out-of-form Stephen Warnock.
Now, with
Richard Dunne out for eight weeks with a broken collarbone, the Spaniard looks set to get his chance at centre-back.
Cuellar told the
Birmingham Mail: "I am happy with the confidence the boss has shown in me.
"Left-back is not my natural position, but he has trusted me in different positions in defence and I assume the responsibility of playing as a left-back quite well.
"I'm becoming a regular in the line-up, now it is time to improve the results.
"We are having a bad run of results but we are confident and, in my opinion, the way we play against City is the way to follow.
"We need to be more accurate with our shooting though, and stay tight at the back. Against Manchester City we could not get a draw, although we had our chances."
