Manager given vote of confidence despite difficult season

Mainz general manager Christian Heidel has insisted his club are fully behind manager Thomas Tuchel. The current campaign has not gone to plan for the Bundesliga outfit and they currently sit 13th in the table. Several other German clubs in a similar situation have already fired their manager, but Heidel does not plan to follow the pattern. He told Bild: "I would definitely like to sign an unlimited contract with Thomas - no matter how the season continues, no matter how the season ends up. "There is no difficulty between myself and Thomas Tuchel. We just have big confidence."
