Van Persie happy to see Walcott perform after recent criticism
Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott revelled in the enjoyment of a wonderful comeback after beating capital rivals Tottenham 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal trailed 2-0 after 35 minutes despite looking good in the early stages, but responded in style to turn the game around.
Van Persie equalised before half-time after Bacary Sagna had pulled back the first goal, and then Rosicky put the Gunners ahead for the first time six minutes into the second period.
Walcott completed the scoring with two fine finishes to lift Arsenal back into fourth place in the Premier League.
"This is a classic comeback. To come back from 2-0 down and beat them 5-2 is unbelievable," Van Persie told
Sky Sports.
"We have it in ourselves to show that sort of commitment and to do it in a game against Spurs is a dream."
Quite funny
Walcott admitted that it was an especially pleasing result because Arsenal have found themselves on the wrong end of a couple of recent North London derbies.
"The last few games we have played against them we have played particularly well and still managed to lose, but we showed great character and hopefully we've brought them back to earth slightly," said Walcott.
"Recent results haven't gone great but our Premier League form has started to pick up."
While Walcott was pleased to respond to recent criticism of his performances with a couple of goals, Van Persie also offered words of praise for the winger.
"If I speak about my friend, Theo, I think it is quite funny that he gets so much criticism," said the Dutchman.
"He gave me loads of assists and I know, and everyone knows, that he can score, and he showed that today."
