Cottagers boss impressed by prolific striker
Fulham boss Martin Jol has hinted negotiations are underway to extend Pavel Pogrebnyak's stay at Craven Cottage following his hat-trick heroics against Wolves.
Pogrebnyak, on loan at Fulham from Stuttgart, continued his superb start to life in the Premier League with a treble in the 5-0 thrashing of Wolves in West London on Sunday.
He was drafted in on January transfer deadline day to fill the void left by Bobby Zamora's move to QPR, but few could have predicted the striker's impact.
The 28-year-old has now netted five goals in three appearances, which has left manager Jol understandably delighted.
The Dutch manager has indicated talks are underway with several players regarding new contracts - Pogrebnyak included.
"We're talking to four or five players about new deals," he said. "You want to keep your best players and I think he is certainly one of them.
Happy
"I never worry about these things. I am only happy that we made the right decision to sign him because you never know.
"There are so many strikers on the market and you have to get them when they are not at their peak.
"We certainly got him when he wasn't on his peak, but he is now so I am happy with that."
He added: "He is a very good lad. The first training session he gave us a feeling that he wanted to be here, that he wanted to prove a point.
"That is always good so I can't say what I did after his first game, where I said 'one swallow doesn't make a summer'.
"After five goals in the three games, I have to say he is a pretty good signing for us."
