Midfielder still struggling with knee complaint

Wolves boss Terry Connor admits Dave Edwards is 'very doubtful' to figure in a crucial bottom-of-the-table clash with Blackburn on Saturday. The midfielder has been nursing a knee problem in recent weeks, with the ailment keeping him out of a 5-0 mauling at Fulham last weekend. It was hoped that he would return to action for a potentially pivotal home date with Blackburn, with both sides in desperate need of the points as they battle to avoid the drop. Edwards is, however, struggling to work his way back to full fitness, leaving Connor short of options in the middle of the park - with Karl Henry having already been ruled out with a hamstring injury. Connor said: "Dave Edwards has irritated the medial side of his knee and hasn't trained for two weeks. "That leaves him very doubtful for Saturday."

Competition

Connor admitted rookie David Davis, recalled on Tuesday from a loan spell at Chesterfield, could come into his plans to face Rovers. He said: "David is fit and has been playing well. He'll keep that competition for places going. "He's ready and he's training well so, if I think he's ready to play in our first team, that's where he has to play." Connor knows he has to pick the players up after their hammering by Fulham and find a way of ridding the club of the mistakes that have proved so costly in recent weeks.
Mistakes
He said: "We started that process (rebuilding confidence) on Monday. We viewed the game, and sat down as a group. "We looked at it and said that it wasn't as good as it was against Newcastle. "We spoke amongst ourselves and we put that to bed. Now all our energy is looking forward to playing on Saturday against Blackburn, which is obviously a massive game." Connor added: "We have to cut out the costly errors. We want to eradicate that from our game and give us a better chance of winning games. "They were mistakes by individual players. We're hoping they can be cut out or be kept to a minimum between now and the end of the season."
