Goalkeeper eyes Saints record and future move into coaching
Kelvin Davis has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet, but admitted he would one day like to coach at Southampton.
The 35-year-old, who has conceded just two goals in his last seven outings, is 27 games away from breaking Eric Martin's record for most post-war appearances in goal for the club.
Should Davis reach that milestone, he would then be 10 games off 300 appearances for the Saints, which is a landmark he has his eye on.
"Personally I want to get to 300 games," Davis told the
Daily Echo.
Milestone
"I wore a little T-shirt after 200 and maybe people wouldn't think that I would get to 300.
"Here I am late 200s. That's my first milestone and if I can get to that then who knows?"
He added: "I enjoy it, I've always got a smile on my face and I feel genuinely privileged to put the shirt on. I just want to play as long as I can.
"The natural progression would probably be into coaching.
"I would love to coach for Southampton one day, but I feel I've got a few years ahead of me yet."
