Wolves boss disappointed with defeat at home to Bolton

Wolves caretaker manager Terry Connor admitted the referee's decision to award Bolton a penalty ultimately changed the course of the game. After missing a string of chances in the opening 45 minutes, Michael Kightly's controlled strike from outside the area put them ahead after the interval. But Bolton were able to engineer a route back into the game when referee Jonathan Moss awarded them a dubious penalty when Roger Johnson was adjudged to have fouled Mark Davies. Martin Petrov scored the subsequent penalty which inspired Bolton to a 3-2 win, leaving Wolves in even greater danger of relegation.

Penalty

"I've only just seen it back once," Connor told Sky Sports when asked if he had seen replays of the event. "I didn't think it was a penalty and obviously there will be plenty of angles and plenty of things shown, but it was a big call by the referee at a very important time of the game. "I wasn't sure it sure it was a penalty and the players felt the same. It didn't look as if there was a massive appeal from the Bolton players as well. It was a big call from the referee and it had a big bearing on the game.
Disappointed
"It's very, very hard [to take]. I'm very disappointed with the result today. I thought that if not the win, then we would take something from the game." Steven Fletcher had three glorious chances to score in the first half and was made to pay for failing to convert them as Marcos Alonso and Kevin Davies further extended their lead. Connor lamented: "We absolutely dominated, but we didn't score and those are crucial times. "We had three or four good chances in which to score in that first half and the lads came out in the second half and did exactly the same and got our noses in front - until their penalty decision I thought we were well in the game."
