Reds boss plays down the importance of report

Kenny Dalglish admits he has been asked to file a report to Liverpool's owners, but claims there is nothing unusual in that. He says the relationship between the management team at Anfield, John Henry and the Fenway Sports Group remains as strong as ever. Commitments on either side of the Atlantic mean FSG cannot always be on Merseyside to discuss matters with Dalglish, meaning he must use other forms of contact. Reports offer him the chance to give his take on recent events, while updating Henry on club affairs. The Scot insists too much is being read into the latest paperwork to wing its way out of Anfield, with an alarming slump in form seeing Liverpool's every move dissected in minute detail. "I've got to file a report - even when you are at school you get a report - but we don't tell everyone," said Dalglish. "Nothing has changed but we take what measures we can to keep them updated on their football club.

Updates

"There is communication every week, after every game so nothing has changed. "The people who own the football club talk to us regularly and the conversations we've had are on the same basis as we've had with them before." Dalglish has also attempted to play down concerns regarding tension in the Liverpool camp, with Pepe Reina and Andy Carroll having suffered rushes of blood during Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. "There was Pepe getting sent off and Andy coming off and both were frustrated but that was dealt with and done and dusted on Sunday," added the Reds boss. "Anything that had to be done was done there and then so it doesn't fester for anyone. "I don't know how other people (outside the club) have reacted but we have reacted properly, promptly and correctly."
