Former Scotland international motivates Fulham troops
Fulham coach Billy McKinlay has warned his players against taking their foot off the gas as they chase a top 10 finish.
The Cottagers secured a 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday for the first time in their history and are now level on points with the eighth-placed Merseysiders.
McKinlay is aware one more win could virtually confirm a top 10 finish for the Cottagers, but is urging his players not to settle for the minimum.
Challenging
"We have got a good side and we have always known that," he said.
"I don't think you need to shout from the rooftops. We think we have a good club there, we do our business in the correct manner and hopefully that transmits on to the football pitch.
"We have had a good three or four years and we want to keep progressing and challenge at the top of the table.
"Standing still means you are moving backwards. It is onwards and upwards, that is the message we try to push at the club."
Experienced
McKinlay has taken charge of the west London outfit's last two games due to a chest infection which has hit manager Martin Jol.
The former Scotland international was unable to stop the Cottagers coming unstuck against Everton last weekend in a 4-0 defeat, but he was in inspirational mode before the Liverpool game.
He added: "I reiterated to them why we didn't do so well on Saturday. They are an experienced bunch of players and they know the score.
"I gave them a little reminder of what we are capable of and what we needed to get back to."
