QPR chief expects improvement next season

Mark Hughes has promised Queens Park Rangers will not find themselves in another survival fight after they narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season. QPR secured their Premier League status by the skin of their teeth following a dramatic defeat to champions Manchester City as Bolton could only draw at Stoke. It means QPR avoided the drop by a single point and Hughes has vowed they will not find themselves in a similar predicament again. Hughes admits he was not aware of what was happening at the Britannia Stadium due to the dramatic nature of his side's game with Manchester City. "Well it was difficult, but I was so wrapped up in the performance of my players and what they were producing that everything else that surrounded the game was difficult to focus on," Hughes told Sky Sports Hd1. "I am just delighted we are still in the Premier League.

Stronger

"From my point of view there's no way we will ever be in this situation again while I am manager of QPR because I have good people around me, got great support from the owner and CEO and this club is going to be a lot stronger in the future. "But we needed to stay in the Premier League today and thankfully we have." Hughes admitted it was a major achievement to keep QPR up after he replaced Neil Warnock in January. "Well it's been difficult, I came in in January and it was a huge task for us, but we have been able to do it. "There were a lot of issue we were dealing with, the club wasn't ready for the Premier League in all honesty, but we are moving very, very quickly and in the future we won't be in this position again."
