Highly-rated Ivorian says life is good on and off the pitch

Cheick Tiote feels he is among friends after nearly two years at Newcastle United. The combative midfielder has been a big hit on Tyneside since his transfer from FC Twente in August 2010, and has reportedly attracted interest from several other leading Premier League clubs. The Ivorian has previously brushed off speculation linking him with a move away from the North East, and now he has spoken of how much he enjoys life in the area off the pitch. "I like living in Newcastle, very much," said Tiote to the Shields Gazette. "It is a very simple life for me.

Chill

"I am at home with my family and I can just chill some days for the whole day. But when I want to go out and do some stuff, I can do that as well. "People here are more friendly than aggressive, so life is all right for me here." Tiote is one of several French-speaking players from a number of different countries in Alan Pardew's squad, who exceeded many expectations in the Premier League last season. And, according to Tiote, unity in the dressing room was major factor in their success. "The French players have settled in, but it's about the team here," he added.
