Posh say Forest have yet to make Ferguson approach

Nottingham Forest's vacant managerial post would appeal to Roy Keane, but the Reds have made no approach for his services or those of Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson. Forest helped to launch Keane's glittering career in the early 1990s, with legendary Reds boss Brian Clough having spotted his potential early and snapped him up from Cobh Ramblers. The Irishman went on to spend three years at the City Ground, before being lured away for a British transfer record fee by Manchester United. Keane is still held in high regard on the banks of the Trent and has been mentioned as a potential candidate to take the managerial reins at Forest in the wake of Steve Cotterill's dismissal. The former Sunderland and Ipswich manager's representative says no approach or application has been made as yet, but admits the Forest project does appeal.

Available

"As far as I know, he has not been approached and he has not applied for the job. But I haven't spoken to him about it so I wouldn't know for sure," said solicitor Michael Kennedy. "I can understand why people would link him with the job, being an old Forest player, but I don't know if he is in the running for it. "I thought it was Mick McCarthy until yesterday. Or perhaps Glenn Hoddle, according to some reports. "But what I can say is that I think Roy would be interested if he was approached. He is available and I think it would be a job that would appeal to him." Keane is one of a number of names being linked with the City Ground post, with Posh boss Ferguson another believed to figure prominently on the wish list of Forest's new owners. The Al-Hasawi family have yet to make contact with Peterborough, though, and their chairman Darragh MacAntony has made it clear that any approach will have to be made through the right channels.
Flattering
He told Sky Sports News HD: "There has been no formal approach. "Darren is very happy at the club, he's got three or four years left on his contract. We have spoken about it and he doesn't want to go anywhere. We certainly don't want an approach. "There has been a lot of toing and froing about was he illegally approached, but I don't want to get into that. We have made a comment to the Football League and a complaint about an incident a couple of weeks ago and we'll leave it there." MacAntony added: "It's flattering when your manager is linked with clubs and the Forest project could be big, with a lot of money going into it. But he has told me that he is very happy in his job, he doesn't want to go to Nottingham Forest and that's where we are. "If the right thing comes in and he wants to go and speak with somebody and they do it the right way, it will happen."
