Hughes joined Charlton from Scunthorpe two-and-a-half years ago and noted how impressed he has been with the Iron since Russ Wilcox became manager at Glanford Park in December. The Lincolnshire club have ascended to the top of League Two under Wilcox's stewardship - they were ninth before he grabbed the reins - and boast a strikeforce containing Paul Hayes, Deon Burton, Paddy Madden and 13-goal Sam Winnall. "Russ has played for the club, worked under Brian Laws for a long time and took over a pretty promising dressing room, but he has put his stamp on it and added a bit of quality," said Hughes "A change of manager often freshen things up and keeps players on their toes and it is working for Scunthorpe, which appears to be a great home for Winnall, who is banging in the goals. "He has been around the clubs on loan but, like Hayes, feel wanted at Scunthorpe and has clicked, while he has now been joined by [ex-Yeovil man] Madden, who guarantees you goals at this level."
