Swansea City manager Garry Monk was left to rue Chelsea scoring just before half-time after his side lost 4-2 at Stamford Bridge.
The two clubs went into Saturday’s game as the only sides with a 100 per cent record in the Premier League after three matches and Swansea took an early lead through John Terry’s own goal.
Monk’s men were the better team in the first half, but Diego Costa equalised a minute before the interval and then added two more in the second half.
Loic Remy marked his debut with Chelsea’s fourth goal before Jonjo Shelvey pulled one back late on for Swansea.
“The first half we were very good and played some very good football,” Monk told Sky Sports.
“We came here full of confidence, we worked them very well and caused them problems, but to concede a goal before half-time was a kick in the teeth for us. We should have come in with the lead.
“But in the second half Chelsea showed the power they have, the quality they have and for the second half we couldn’t quite contain that.”
It was a game which pitted the Premier League Manager of the Month, Monk, against the Player of the Month, Costa.
"And he won," Monk added.
"The whole (Chelsea) team is packed with world-class players that can cause damage to you at any time.
"We have to take that on the chin. We have to put it in perspective, but we'll always try to compete against whoever we play. It doesn't matter who they are. We did.
"Some of the football we've played was some of the best we've played against these type of teams."
