Transfer news: Wes Brown pleased to have Sebastian Coates at Sunderland

Wes Brown believes Sebastian Coates will prove to be a shrewd addition to the defensive ranks at Sunderland.
The Uruguay international arrived at the Stadium of Light on transfer deadline day after sealing a season-long loan from Liverpool.
He was drafted in as cover for the more experienced Brown and club captain John O’Shea, but is expected to see plenty of game time over the course of the campaign.
Gus Poyet moved to strengthen at centre-half after seeing Valentin Roberge and Modibo Diakite depart Sunderland, with it clear that reinforcements were required.
Brown sees Coates as a useful addition, with the 23-year-old having moved to Anfield in 2011 as part of a £7million deal.
He told the Echo: “We need someone in there 100 per cent.
“He hasn’t trained much yet, but I’m sure he’ll fit in well.
“You can probably class Santi (Vergini) as an option as well.
“But we definitely needed someone in and I’m sure once he starts training, he’ll fit in tremendously.”
Brown is also backing another loanee, Ricky Alvarez, to make a positive impression in English football following his arrival from Inter Milan.
He added on the creative Argentine forward: “He’s settled down well.
“He’s got great skill and I’m sure in a couple more games, he’ll show what he can do.
“He looks a very good player.”
