Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his third hat-trick of the Major League Soccer season as New York Red Bulls beat Seattle Sounders 4-1.

The MLS's leading scorer pounced on Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo's initial blocked shot after just 29 seconds and scored from the penalty spot eight minutes into the second half after Lloyd Sam was tripped.

Wright-Phillips completed his hat-trick from close range and was replaced by Tim Cahill in the 58th, with the Australian striker scoring seven minutes later to stretch the lead to 4-0.

Clint Dempsey entered the game for Seattle in the 60th minute and scored a consolation goal two minutes later.

In the Western Conference, Alan Gordon headed in Robbie Keane's cross in the 84th minute to complete Los Angeles Galaxy's 2-1 comeback win over FC Dallas and clinch a play-off spot.

Earlier Keane had scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute with his 15th goal of the season to cancel out Blas Perez’s 54th-minute opener for Dallas.

Fanendo Adi scored twice in the Portland Timbers' 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps to move the Timbers ahead of Vancouver for the fifth and final play-off position in the Western Conference.

Bobby Shuttleworth saved Higuain's penalty kick in the 85th minute to keep New England in the match, but the Revolution failed to find the equalizing goal in the final minutes.

Luis Silva's penalty put DC on the board in the 39th minute, before levelling the contest in the 54th minute from a free-kick.

DC took the lead for the first time in the 68th minute as Bobby Boswell's strike before Watson's shot ricocheted off a defender and landed in the back of the net before Watson intervened.
