Premier League: QPR's Bobby Zamora pays tribute to Charlie Austin
Saturday 1 November 2014 20:33, UK
Bobby Zamora was happy to pay tribute to strike-partner Charlie Austin after QPR lost out 2-1 at Chelsea.
A sublime strike from Oscar and a disputed Eden Hazard penalty won the day - but not before Austin's third goal in a week had given the home side plenty of food for thought.
Zamora said: "Charlie has been brilliant. He’s been spot on around the box. I have been a bit of a battering ram for him and I’m happy to do that job, putting the defenders under pressure and hopefully he’ll keep getting the half chances and keep doing the business and keep putting them away.
"The lads are upbeat and pleased with the performance. Obviously disappointed not to get something from it but the performance was there and that is key.
"They are probably one of the best teams in Europe and to push them to the end showed it was a good performance from us and we just need to keep doing that.
"We’re pleased with the way we’ve been playing, the performances on the whole, the work ethic, everything has been there, so fingers crossed there is more to come and a lot more points to be had."
Midfielder Sandro, who was inches away from giving the Rs the lead with the score at 1-1, added: "Charlie is an amazing player. He’s on fire now and I think he will help us a lot more this season."
