Premier League: Swansea not over-reliant on Wilfried Bony, says manager Garry Monk

Garry Monk insists his Swansea side are not over-reliant on Wilfried Bony despite the striker having supplied over a third of the team's Premier League goals.

Bony has scored eight of the Swans' last 13 goals, and even captain Ashley Williams said after last weekend's 2-1 home defeat to Tottenham that they must find a way to lift the scoring burden off the 26-year-old’s shoulders.

The absence of the Ivory Coast player could be felt keenly next month when he is away at the Africa Cup of Nations, but Monk refutes suggestions Swansea are a one-man team.

Garry Monk has given his support to Brendan Rodgers claiming he's the right man to lead Liverpool despite their poor start to the season.

"We're very much a collective here and it's not just about Wilfried scoring goals," Monk said.

"The way we've produced the chances for Wilfried to contribute shows that.

"Yes, that's not to say there's six or seven players producing goals freely but look at the league and there's no massive amount of variation apart from the top teams.

"We create chances for each other and we don't care who scores as long as the team wins and we are creating those chances and someone's there to put it in the back of the net."

More from Hull City V Swansea

Swansea will also be without midfielder Ki Sung-yueng  in January, as the South Korean heads to Australia to captain his national side at the 2015 Asian Cup.

Ninth-placed Swansea travel to Hull on Saturday on the back of two straight league defeats and the clash at the KC Stadium will be a key match for two sides looking to turn around their form.

"Hull have got a very experienced manager who will be looking at how to get them back to winning ways and we expect a very difficult game, Monk said.

"They will be different to what we've played before, so the challenge for us is to perform well enough to take the points."
