Transfer news: 'No contact for Wilfried Bony' insists Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins

Swansea’s chairman Huw Jenkins says he has not received any contact regarding Wilfried Bony and insists it would take an “astronomical” fee to prise the striker away from the club.
Bony is reportedly the subject of interest from Chelsea and Manchester City among a number of clubs from across Europe, having scored more goals in the Premier League than any other in 2014.
The 26-year-old was also close to leaving the Liberty Stadium in the summer but signed a new deal in November that eradicated a £19m release clause and ties him to the club until 2018.
But Jenkins told the Daily Mail: “There has been no enquiry to me or the club about Wilfried Bony.
“We are in the same position as any other club. No one wants to lose players but if you are to lose players it has to be for the right offer.
“We’re talking about a player who has scored more goals in 2014 than any other, including people who cost a lot of money. It would take an astronomical fee for him to ever go anywhere.
“Bigger clubs than us have to deal with that – it's the nature of football these days and we are realistic about it.
“But we're committed to our players and they're committed to us. Bony loves scoring goals – it's his job – and hopefully it'll continue.”
Bony will play his final game before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations when the Swans travel to Queens Park Rangers on New Year’s Day.
The Welsh club have signed Portugal forward Nelson Oliveira on loan from Benfica for the rest of the season to help address Bony's absence, while the club are also set to sign Exeter midfielder Matt Grimes.
