Dwight Gayle believes Crystal Palace are heading in the right direction following an impressive 3-2 comeback win at Burnley.
The 24-year-old, who was playing for Conference North side Bishop's Stortford three and a half years ago, scored twice as the Eagles came from 2-0 down at Turf Moor.
He has now scored in Palace's last three matches – since manager Alan Pardew arrived from Newcastle – and he believes the side from south London are making solid progress.
"To come back from 2-0 down shows great character," Gayle told Sky Sports. "We do it (show our desire) every week and today was a really good sign that we want to be here next year against some of the big boys and hopefully we can do that.
"To be fair we came out and didn't start right but after that we got the ball down and we did show that we can play and we just continued that in the second half and luckily got the win."
Gayle has scored seven goals in five starts and asked if he is the form of his life, he added: "Obviously the team's helping me out. I'm just getting my goals and I hope to continue that run.
"He (Alan Pardew) has got us playing football and a lot of the boys have got a lot of confidence. He did that when he took over and got us back playing so hopefully we can continue that."
