Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic says it is good for the squad to get away to Abu Dhabi for their winter training camp this week, despite the bad weather.

The Premier League champions departed the UK following Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat to Arsenal which left them five points behind leaders Chelsea.

They will play German side Hamburg in a friendly on Wednesday before returning to Manchester ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Middlesbrough which is followed by a crucial Premier League showdown with Chelsea a week later.

Jovetic told Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday: “It’s nice (to get away) but the weather is the same unfortunately. We were unlucky as today it was raining but it’s nice because all the team is here. A couple of days away from England, it’s nice.

“It is good (to be away from England) and also tomorrow we have a game against Hamburg. We have to prepare good because we have the FA Cup. We need to play well to get through and after that we have a big game against Chelsea - a very important game.”

Jovetic remains confident that City can overhaul Chelsea and retain the title despite their slip up against the Gunners.

He said: “We were behind eight points and now it is five. Of course it is going to be tough because they are a good team, but now we play against them we have to beat them. It’s not going to be easy, but I believe that we can do it.

“The biggest characteristic after a bad game like Arsenal is to recover well and to play good the next game and win.”

There have been suggestions that Jovetic could leave City during the current transfer window, but the 25-year-old Montenegro international says he has no intention of departing the club.

“I never wanted to go because I have a lot more to show and a lot more goals to score,” he said.
