The site of Tottenham’s proposed new stadium next to White Hart Lane is the subject of a High Court action which began on Tuesday.
A High Court judge has been hearing the case brought by local business Archway Sheet Metal Works who are opposing the construction.
Sky Sports Chief News Reporter Bryan Swanson was in court as the hearing got underway.
“A decision on this ongoing dispute is crucial for Tottenham if they are to build a new stadium in time for the start of the season in 2018,” Swanson said.
“Construction on a new ground cannot start until this dispute has been resolved.
“Archway a family-run business close to White Hart Lane has appealed an order to force them out of their property. Their location is in the middle of the proposed new site. Archway’s main claim is that a compulsory order to remove them was unlawful and invalid.
“Tottenham officials including one director have been present inside Court Number Three and heard at times complex case law.
“Archway’s barrister is continuing to make his case towards the judge, then Tottenham, Haringey Council and the Government will be given the chance to make their defence
“Mr Justice Dove, a self-confessed Aston Villa supporter is hearing the case. This hearing is expected to last two days.”
